We lost to Wilton and Benedict's talk after the game was interesting to say at the least. I love how he tells us not to be ashamed and that we just have to mature and understand that all we have to do is learn to fix the things we messed up and always go back 100%. He also talked about his personal major goal of reaching the age of 100 and how he's got the balls and guts to work for it. I smiled when he said that, 'cause I was like what the hell is he talking about. But that's an awesome goal. I really wish I had an English class with him or did something to learn more about him because, as weird as he is, he's probably got an amazing mind. It's too bad I haven't.
I have to get better so he'll notice me.

Yesterday

A friend posts this website, http://evolution-facts.org/Ev-V1/1evlch08.htm , and has the hyperlink text as "the Source of all Ignorance" on his profile. Then I asked what he meant by it, and he goes off on 'idiot christians' and if you're going to argue for creationism don't use the atmosphere as evidence to prove there is a god. I guess he's mentally retarded or something because if he actually read the shit instead of listening to what his pot-smoking, black makeup wearing, cynical, etc. friends tell him. The conclusion, "The arrangement did not come about by chance. Too many factors are involved, and if even one was missing, life could not exist here." makes too much sense it's ridiculous. I will say though both sides of this debate between evolution and creation does 'make sense', however, upon critical examination and thinking creationism makes more sense thus(nerd) making the latter invalid. He's just a product of the enviornment and influences. I used to be like that, and the constant feeling of hopelessness that there is no god is unmatchable. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've considered suicide over ridiculous miniscule things when I was like that.

A lifestyle where nothing mattered, nothing meant anything, kind of depressing isn't it? I know as much as people try to attribute religion with morons and killers and whatever else they can find to slander it, atheism is so much worse. I see Thomas Paine has said, "All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." but Athiesm works the same way in a sense. It's like terrifying people about how worthless they are and that life is meaningless, so you should go kill yourself. It's like a tool of evil. I know that Christianity is messed up in many ways, but there are good and bads there too. The same thing applies to atheists, there are good ones and bad ones. It's weird. The world is so confused and it's basically impossible to have everyone understand whatever you understand. Like, we can argue all we want whether we're apes or not but none of us will ever know until we die so, in a way, there's no point in arguing about it. But some people will want to "save" their friends or some others will try to make them follow the "smart guys," so we can't not argue about it. Oh well, it seems like it's just a matter of taste and past influence or research. Perhaps someday there will be a sign that will captivate all of us like Jesus' second coming. You know, I wish I could be alive for that but interestingly enough I like where I am now. I foresee a lot more violence in the future and I'd rather not be a part of that shpiel. Life now is great for me, but not for children in Iraq getting shot by M16's because they're all little 'terrorists.' The only thing that will tell us who's right is time. People will argue, but only time will tell so arguing until whatever point 'it' happens is a good time waster. I'll keep my beliefs with me until I die, but if it happens that I'm wrong. So be it, you know? I'd rather be safe than sorry, but I feel like there's no need to believe in evolution because what I feel is so right. So in the end, I already know I'm safe.

Nationalism

What a weird topic. I remember Taylor saying a few weeks ago how nationalism is bullshit and is the cause of much evil. When I thought about how much I loved Albania/Bosnia and what I would do to protect it, his theory sounded plausible. However, it's an interesting topic that I'll have to do more research on to actually develop my own viewpoint. The audience was laughing, but not in the sense that they understood what Colbert was saying. I can't tell you how many times I've been thinking about this quote and how many times someone can use it. It's amazing. Physics is amazing as well. In the movie "The Elegant Universe" by Nova, those PBS people, there was something I remember about the universe and how fine-tuned it is.

Sick world, really. I was linked to http://www.nnnforum.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26313 hoping to engage in some intellectual conversation so I read the post and signed up to reply about the Federal Reserve.

From there I'm brought to the main threshold for the forum and I'm shocked after reading some really stupid shit like, "Niggers shot in the mall" or "Sand Nigger coming home after Iraq adventure" where these assholes comment on news stories and adding tid-bits like "this sand nigger should just stay in Iraq and bring his parents," on some article about some teen in high school going to Iraq on his own without letting anyone know. Fuck that. These people are just as scummy as Hitler. Hell, these people speak as if they are Hitler incarnate. If you blindy hate any one like Jews, Muslims, Blacks, etc. you're almost 100% retarded, congratulations. I wish men like Hitler, Mao, Stalin, etc. just rounded up the idiots instead of good people. May be mean, but the ends easily justify the means.

There's still some stuff I want to write about that I've had in my mind for the past few days. It's nothing special, creative ideas and feelings. Like feeling trapped in my personality which I'll elaborate on later. Another is basically love and what's culturally acceptable and how I match up. I also want to randomly include here that I love physics. Whenever I think about it I don't only think about the math, laws, or whatever else. I think about God and smile at the fact that he made all of this possible with his infinite wisdom. When/If I get into college I already know that I'll just be studying like Wagner, from Faust. I can't see myself doing anything else but reading all day like Lincoln. Trying to find my purpose. I feel like it'll be in politics, but who knows? I'll let my mind and heart lead me.

Further, should abortion be found by scientific determination to be murder, this would be a state-level issue and not federal."

I think that makes more sense though as it is. My reasoning? The final provision is what, I believe, gives this issue a final 'answer', if you will, following the Constitution.

'Bush on the Constitution: 'It's just a goddamned piece of paper'

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”

And, to the Bush Administration, the Constitution of the United States is little more than toilet paper stained from all the shit that this group of power-mad despots have dumped on the freedoms that “goddamned piece of paper” used to guarantee.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, while still White House counsel, wrote that the “Constitution is an outdated document.”

Put aside, for a moment, political affiliation or personal beliefs. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. It doesn’t matter if you support the invasion or Iraq or not. Despite our differences, the Constitution has stood for two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine – in the end – if something is legal or right.

Every federal official – including the President – who takes an oath of office swears to “uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says he cringes when someone calls the Constitution a “living document.”

“"Oh, how I hate the phrase we have—a 'living document,’” Scalia says. “We now have a Constitution that means whatever we want it to mean. The Constitution is not a living organism, for Pete's sake.”

As a judge, Scalia says, “I don't have to prove that the Constitution is perfect; I just have to prove that it's better than anything else.”

President Bush has proposed seven amendments to the Constitution over the last five years, including a controversial amendment to define marriage as a “union between a man and woman.” Members of Congress have proposed some 11,000 amendments over the last decade, ranging from repeal of the right to bear arms to a Constitutional ban on abortion.

Scalia says the danger of tinkering with the Constitution comes from a loss of rights.

“We can take away rights just as we can grant new ones,” Scalia warns. “Don't think that it's a one-way street.”

And don’t buy the White House hype that the USA Patriot Act is a necessary tool to fight terrorism. It is a dangerous law that infringes on the rights of every American citizen and, as one brave aide told President Bush, something that undermines the Constitution of the United States.

But why should Bush care? After all, the Constitution is just “a goddamned piece of paper.”'

'Internet Censorship: The Warning Signs Were Not Hidden

Internet censorship. It did not happen overnight but slowly came to America's shores from testing grounds in China and the Middle East.

Progressive and investigative journalist web site administrators are beginning to talk to each other about it, e-mail users are beginning to understand why their e-mail is being disrupted by it, major search engines appear to be complying with it, and the low to equal signal-to-noise ratio of legitimate e-mail and spam appears to be perpetuated by it.

In this case, “it,” is what privacy and computer experts have long warned about: massive censorship of the web on a nationwide and global scale. For many years, the web has been heavily censored in countries around the world. That censorship continues at this very moment. Now it is happening right here in America.

The agreement by the Congress to extend an enhanced Patriot Act for another four years will permit the political enforcers of the Bush administration, who use law enforcement as their proxies, to further clamp censorship controls on the web.

The warning signs for the crackdown on the web have been with us for over a decade. The Clipper chip controversy of the 90s, John Poindexter’s Total Information Awareness (TIA) system pushed in the aftermath of 9-11, backroom deals between the Federal government and the Internet service industry, and the Patriot Act have ushered in a new era of Internet censorship, something just half a decade ago computer programmers averred was impossible given the nature of the web. They were wrong, dead wrong.

Take for example of what recently occurred when two journalists were taking on the phone about a story that appeared on Google News. The story was about a Christian fundamentalist move in Congress to use U.S. military force in Sudan to end genocide in Darfur. The story appeared on the English Google News site in Qatar. But the very same Google News site when accessed simultaneously in Washington, DC failed to show the article. This censorship is accomplished by geolocation filtering: the restriction or modifying of web content based on the geographical region of the user. In addition to countries, such filtering can now be implemented for states, cities, and even individual IP addresses.

With reports in the Swedish newspaper Svensa Dagbladet today that the United States has transmitted a Homeland Security Department "no fly" list of 80,000 suspected terrorists to airport authorities around the world, it is not unreasonable that a "no [or restricted] surfing/emailing" list has been transmitted to Internet Service Providers around the world. The systematic disruptions of web sites and email strongly suggests that such a list exists.

News reports on CIA prisoner flights and secret prisons are disappearing from Google and other search engines like Alltheweb as fast as they appear. Here now, gone tomorrow is the name of the game.

Google is systematically failing to list and link to articles that contain explosive information about the Bush administration, the war in Iraq, Al Qaeda, and U.S. political scandals. But Google is not alone in working closely to stifle Internet discourse. America On Line, Microsoft, Yahoo and others are slowly turning the Internet into an information superhighway dominated by barricades, toll booths, off-ramps that lead to dead ends, choke points, and security checks.

America On Line is the most egregious is stifling Internet freedom. A former AOL employee noted how AOL and other Internet Service Providers cooperate with the Bush administration in censoring email. The Patriot Act gave federal agencies the power to review information to the packet level and AOL was directed by agencies like the FBI to do more than sniff the subject line. The AOL term of service (TOS) has gradually been expanded to grant AOL virtually universal power regarding information. Many AOL users are likely unaware of the elastic clause, which says they will be bound by the current TOS and any TOS revisions which AOL may elect at any time in the future. Essentially, AOL users once agreed to allow the censorship and non-delivery of their email.

Microsoft has similar requirements for Hotmail as do Yahoo and Google for their respective e-mail services.

There are also many cases of Google’s search engine failing to list and link to certain information. According to a number of web site administrators who carry anti-Bush political content, this situation has become more pronounced in the last month. In addition, many web site administrators are reporting a dramatic drop-off in hits to their sites, according to their web statistic analyzers. Adding to their woes is the frequency at which spam viruses are being spoofed as coming from their web site addresses.

Government disruption of the political side of the web can easily be hidden amid hyped mainstream news media reports of the latest "boutique" viruses and worms, reports that have more to do with the sales of anti-virus software and services than actual long-term disruption of banks, utilities, or airlines.

Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Cisco Systems have honed their skills at Internet censorship for years in places like China, Jordan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and other countries. They have learned well. They will be the last to admit they have imported their censorship skills into the United States at the behest of the Bush regime. Last year, the Bush-Cheney campaign blocked international access to its web site -- www.georgewbush.com -- for unspecified "security reasons."

Only those in the Federal bureaucracy and the companies involved are in a position to know what deals have been made and how extensive Internet censorship has become. They owe full disclosure to their customers and their fellow citizens.'

Remarks delivered at the Darfur Emergency Summit, convened at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York on July 14, 2004, by the American Jewish World Service and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Sudan has become today’s world capital of human pain, suffering and agony. There, one part of the population has been – and still is – subjected by another part, the dominating part, to humiliation, hunger and death. For a while, the so-called civilized world knew about it and preferred to look away. Now people know. And so they have no excuse for their passivity bordering on indifference. Those who, like you my friends, try to break the walls of their apathy deserve everyone’s support and everyone’s solidarity.

This gathering was organized by several important bodies. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Committee on Conscience (Jerry Fowler), the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, the American Jewish World Service (Ruth Messinger) and several other humanitarian organizations.

As for myself, I have been involved in the efforts to help Sudanese victims for some years. It was a direct or indirect consequence of a millennium lecture I had given in the White House on the subject, “The Perils of Indifference”. After I concluded, a woman in the audience rose and said: “I am from Rwanda.” She asked me how I could explain the international community’s indifference to the Rwandan massacres. I turned to the President who sat at my right and said: “Mr. President, you better answer this question. You know as well as we do that the Rwanda tragedy, which cost from 600,000 to 800,000 victims, innocent men, women and children, could have been averted. Why wasn’t it?” His answer was honest and sincere: “It is true, that tragedy could have been averted. That’s why I went there to apologize in my personal name and in the name of the American people. But I promise you: it will not happen again.”

The next day I received a delegation from Sudan and friends of Sudan, headed by a Sudanese refugee bishop. They informed me that two million Sudanese had already died. They said, “You are now the custodian of the President’s pledge. Let him keep it by helping stop the genocide in Sudan.”

That brutal tragedy is still continuing, now in Sudan’s Darfur region. Now its horrors are shown on television screens and on front pages of influential publications. Congressional delegations, special envoys and humanitarian agencies send back or bring back horror-filled reports from the scene. A million human beings, young and old, have been uprooted, deported. Scores of women are being raped every day, children are dying of disease hunger and violence.

How can a citizen of a free country not pay attention? How can anyone, anywhere not feel outraged? How can a person, whether religious or secular, not be moved by compassion? And above all, how can anyone who remembers remain silent?

As a Jew who does not compare any event to the Holocaust, I feel concerned and challenged by the Sudanese tragedy. We must be involved. How can we reproach the indifference of non-Jews to Jewish suffering if we remain indifferent to another people’s plight?

It happened in Cambodia, then in former Yugoslavia, and in Rwanda, now in Sudan. Asia, Europe, Africa: Three continents have become prisons, killing fields and cemeteries for countless innocent, defenseless populations. Will the plague be allowed to spread?

“Lo taamod al dam réakha” is a Biblical commandment. “Thou shall not stand idly by the shedding of the blood of thy fellow man.” The word is not “akhikha,” thy Jewish brother, but “réakha,” thy fellow human being, be he or she Jewish or not. All are entitled to live with dignity and hope. All are entitled to live without fear and pain.

Thanksgiving...
Weird day today I guess. After this one moment tonight I had to think a lot about what someone said. However insignificant the gesture may be, it really made me think. If it sounds goofy, well, so be it. Fearless isn't the word, yet, you see. Anyway, my family and I went to my uncle's home in Wilton today and all of that good stuff. The part I want to talk about is when I was just sitting in the car talking to Semso about stuff when Nevzeta, my other cousin, comes in. I'm not sure what she said exactly but she was asking him about his love life and how wild he must be with the women. Semso was a little embarrassed or whatever and said, "Oh man you don't know Irf, he's wild as hell with the ladies." I laughed, but saw Nevzeta look at me with some sort of... disgust. It was really subtle, you can't tell these kinds of things unless you know her. But oh not Irfan, he couldn't possibly be human... After that it was a little awkard for like five seconds then she left. It's like Semso is supposed to be some special amazing guy, everyone always has comments like that about him it's amazing. I could never be jealous, that's just fuckin stupid, it's just life and my family.

Because of that encounter I was thinking about my future and whatever else came to my mind. Marriage or my love life was the first thing on my mind. I've always thought I would be the best boyfriend any woman could dream about, except I'm not dumb nor am I the fake image most women want: tough. When I mean tough I'm talking about the stereotypical type of guy that women love. I'm really intimate, I guess. For some reason as much as women beg for some guy that knows how to treat them right, they never end up liking the guy. Whatever, good for you, go get beat up and enjoy your partner's toughness; it's really "attractive."

When I think about marriage and what-not I can think of myself in a few scenarios when I'm older. My first idea is to be the ideal Irfan and be some good looking single guy who "dates" a lot of women. The second idea that sticks is being married and happy, the storybook ending with fireworks at the end. The third idea is the most depressing: to never get married or do anything.
I dream about the first idea sometimes, but I would have a hard time being that person.

The second ending is beautiful I'm sure for the first few years, so I think about the investment bankers on Wall Street.

Personally, I'm fine with being lonely in the third one. I've been that way my whole life and it's quite easy to stay the way I've always been. Sometimes, my family asks when I'll get married and sometimes I say, "Never." to see what they say. I know Nevzeta can disagree quite easily with that one, from what I know I'm guessing she loves it. But I know they'll probably grow bored. If there's anything I'd want it would be to find out some method to stay in love with someone forever. However that may be, that should somehow prove that there is no such thing as true love. There is no "one" that you search for your whole life. Just two things: your heart and mind. It's weird, I'm in love with so many women at the moment. My heart is so easy. I don't consider myself a Casanova, but I can't tell if I would be happy going through with it with all of them or not. Sure, my hormones think so, but what about my superego? So therein lies the problem, should I go all-out or all-in? Most of the advice I hear is something like, "Have a lot of fun and then settle down with some virgin chick." But dude, that's such a bullshit idea. I could believe in something like Eddie Murphy said on "Raw" back in the eighties. You know, about doing whatever you want "and settling down with someone that's just as fucked up as you are." It sounds fair enough, but that's still not enough reason for me to have fun. I know my dad would say some shit like, "What happens there stays there." Because his mind works differently and he's unhappy. I don't understand how you can be such a bastard. Am I the only person that thinks this way? What the hell do I do? I only hope the answer finds me before I find a wrong answer. But maybe there is no answer, you know. Maybe you just do whatever you like. There's no set path to happiness so there probably isn't a set path for love. For some reason I feel like the third path is the only open one and it might regretably lead me to the first option. True love is something that takes place in your mind, not your heart. Your heart just does its job by keeping you alive and giving you the funny feelings when you do love someone. What's the point of explaining these feelings that others have been trying to for thousands of years.

Today after the feast I watched American Beauty today which played a part in inspiring me to write this. The movie is so weird it's great. I love the double entendre of "American Beauty" and now I know why my English teacher, Sujay Desai, loved it. Two years later from when I actually had his classes. Wow. You should just watch it for yourself. Don't limit yourself, "Man, oh man. Man, oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man."

I've watched like 4 movies in the past 4 or 5 days. It started with The Shawshank Redemption then it went to Garden State on TV, after that it was the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, followed by Requiem for a Dream, and finally today Donnie Darko. I guess that's five, not four. I have another movie, 21 grams, downloaded. I'll probably watch it tomorrow when I'm out for Thanksgiving break.
God, movies are awsome. I wish my life would end with some sort of storybook ending like in Donnie Darko or Garden State, but I have trouble accepting the fact that this shit is fake. Real life is so boring compared to movie life, but clearly movies are shown for its action otherwise they wouldn't sell. I love the quote at the end of Donnie Darko where he says, "Deus ex machina" I'll leave it to you to figure out the history behind those words.

Something Ironic

Shortly afterwards, a massive terrorist attack takes place, one which is very convenient to the cause of these would-be Autocrats and their ideology. In fact, in their writings they were hoping for a New Pearl Harbor and it was delivered to them in the most dramatic manner. The attack not only was useful in their global imperialistic desire to conquer other nations, but also in their goals to eventually change the very fabric of this nation's government, Constitution and society.
The Autocratic Puppet President and the man pulling the strings behind him, his secretive Vice-President Puppet Master and the Puppet Makers behind them have done all the right things to ensure that the agenda of their Neo-Conservative-National-Socialist Party has infiltrated the government. The Puppet President really believes that "dictatorships are great as long as he is the dictator".
Under the guise of Patriotism, they force Congress to pass an Act which has it's primary focus on eliminating the Rights of the Citizens, not terrorism. In fact, they make it possible to virtually destroy the Right of Habeas Corpus and give themselves the power to declare any Citizen an "enemy combatant", toss them in prison without charges, trial, or any of the legal Rights guaranteed them in the Constitution.
Another Presidential campaign comes and goes, except this time political dissent, free speech and visual opposition are all contained far from the Puppet President's campaign trail. The Autocratic Puppet President is naturally re-elected during war-time and begins his second term.
They then seek to hold more control over the Citizens and have Congress pass a national ID Act, one in which they are able to basically track and gather information on each and every Citizen.
Another disaster hits the nation, this time a natural disaster that is vastly destructive and the response of the agency that manages such disaster is, very conveniently, a dismal failure. The failure of the agency responsible for managing disasters gives the Autocrats a perfect opportunity to eliminate the only law that keeps the Military from being used by the government for domestic law enforcement, and opens the door for the plan to eventually impose martial law upon the nation.
Scandal rocks the Neo-Con-National-Socialist-Party, the war is going poorly, yet the Puppet Makers and their Puppets continue to drive their policies to fulfillment. Patriotism is still the "newspeak" trigger word that they use to inflame the nation for their cause.
With another Presidential Election a couple of years away, the plans of the Neo-Con-Socialist Party must carried out with perfection. Although their man is not allowed by the Constitution to serve as President again, in their minds, that is no reason to remove him from Office.
It is a few months before the election, another convenient attack takes place within a large city, the attack kills tens of thousands of people and the plan is executed. A national emergency is declared, martial law is imposed. Executive Order becomes law, the Constitution, Congress and Supreme Court are suspended. All guns are confiscated from the Citizens, private ownership of gold and silver is declared illegal, all information in the media and on the internet is regulated and now only promotes the Party Propaganda Line. All political dissidents and opposition groups are declared to be "enemy combatants" and are imprisoned.
The Neo-Conservative National Socialist Party is now in absolute power.

I believe that the Republican Party has been, for all intents and purposes, hijacked by the Neo-Con National Socialist. I also believe that the Democrats and the Republicans are now just two sides of the same coin and they all dance to the tune of Corporate Fascism. While I have been a Republican for decades, I can no longer support the Republican Party nor can I turn my allegiance to the Democratic Party. I can now only support the one Party that has the true interest of the Citizens of this Nation at heart, and that is the Libertarian Party. Although I am not in total agreement with the Libertarian Party, I do believe that they are the Party of the People.'

I think this might have just killed my own. Movies are so powerful.. I'm in awe from the movie, anyways I'll be talking about love in my next post because these thoughts have been in my head for too long to forget about it.
