I watched Hotel Rwanda. Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. I feel so hopeless. What the hell is going on in this world.

"People are gonna see this say 'Oh my God, that's horrible!" and then they're gonna go back to enjoying their dinner." Can it be any truer?

Here's something I read from one of my favorite authors about the current situation in Sudan:

Remarks delivered at the Darfur Emergency Summit, convened at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York on July 14, 2004, by the American Jewish World Service and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Sudan has become today’s world capital of human pain, suffering and agony. There, one part of the population has been – and still is – subjected by another part, the dominating part, to humiliation, hunger and death. For a while, the so-called civilized world knew about it and preferred to look away. Now people know. And so they have no excuse for their passivity bordering on indifference. Those who, like you my friends, try to break the walls of their apathy deserve everyone’s support and everyone’s solidarity.

This gathering was organized by several important bodies. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Committee on Conscience (Jerry Fowler), the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, the American Jewish World Service (Ruth Messinger) and several other humanitarian organizations.

As for myself, I have been involved in the efforts to help Sudanese victims for some years. It was a direct or indirect consequence of a millennium lecture I had given in the White House on the subject, “The Perils of Indifference”. After I concluded, a woman in the audience rose and said: “I am from Rwanda.” She asked me how I could explain the international community’s indifference to the Rwandan massacres. I turned to the President who sat at my right and said: “Mr. President, you better answer this question. You know as well as we do that the Rwanda tragedy, which cost from 600,000 to 800,000 victims, innocent men, women and children, could have been averted. Why wasn’t it?” His answer was honest and sincere: “It is true, that tragedy could have been averted. That’s why I went there to apologize in my personal name and in the name of the American people. But I promise you: it will not happen again.”

The next day I received a delegation from Sudan and friends of Sudan, headed by a Sudanese refugee bishop. They informed me that two million Sudanese had already died. They said, “You are now the custodian of the President’s pledge. Let him keep it by helping stop the genocide in Sudan.”

That brutal tragedy is still continuing, now in Sudan’s Darfur region. Now its horrors are shown on television screens and on front pages of influential publications. Congressional delegations, special envoys and humanitarian agencies send back or bring back horror-filled reports from the scene. A million human beings, young and old, have been uprooted, deported. Scores of women are being raped every day, children are dying of disease hunger and violence.

How can a citizen of a free country not pay attention? How can anyone, anywhere not feel outraged? How can a person, whether religious or secular, not be moved by compassion? And above all, how can anyone who remembers remain silent?

As a Jew who does not compare any event to the Holocaust, I feel concerned and challenged by the Sudanese tragedy. We must be involved. How can we reproach the indifference of non-Jews to Jewish suffering if we remain indifferent to another people’s plight?

It happened in Cambodia, then in former Yugoslavia, and in Rwanda, now in Sudan. Asia, Europe, Africa: Three continents have become prisons, killing fields and cemeteries for countless innocent, defenseless populations. Will the plague be allowed to spread?

“Lo taamod al dam réakha” is a Biblical commandment. “Thou shall not stand idly by the shedding of the blood of thy fellow man.” The word is not “akhikha,” thy Jewish brother, but “réakha,” thy fellow human being, be he or she Jewish or not. All are entitled to live with dignity and hope. All are entitled to live without fear and pain.

Not to assist Sudan’s victims today would for me be unworthy of what I have learned from my teachers, my ancestors and my friends, namely that God alone is alone: His creatures must not be.

What pains and hurts me most now is the simultaneity of events. While we sit here and discuss how to behave morally, both individually and collectively, over there, in Darfur and elsewhere in Sudan, human beings kill and die.

Should the Sudanese victims feel abandoned and neglected, it would be our fault – and perhaps our guilt.

That’s why we must intervene.

If we do, they and their children will be grateful for us. As will be, through them, our own."

Thanksgiving...
Weird day today I guess. After this one moment tonight I had to think a lot about what someone said. However insignificant the gesture may be, it really made me think. If it sounds goofy, well, so be it. Fearless isn't the word, yet, you see. Anyway, my family and I went to my uncle's home in Wilton today and all of that good stuff. The part I want to talk about is when I was just sitting in the car talking to Semso about stuff when Nevzeta, my other cousin, comes in. I'm not sure what she said exactly but she was asking him about his love life and how wild he must be with the women. Semso was a little embarrassed or whatever and said, "Oh man you don't know Irf, he's wild as hell with the ladies." I laughed, but saw Nevzeta look at me with some sort of... disgust. It was really subtle, you can't tell these kinds of things unless you know her. But oh not Irfan, he couldn't possibly be human... After that it was a little awkard for like five seconds then she left. It's like Semso is supposed to be some special amazing guy, everyone always has comments like that about him it's amazing. I could never be jealous, that's just fuckin stupid, it's just life and my family.

Because of that encounter I was thinking about my future and whatever else came to my mind. Marriage or my love life was the first thing on my mind. I've always thought I would be the best boyfriend any woman could dream about, except I'm not dumb nor am I the fake image most women want: tough. When I mean tough I'm talking about the stereotypical type of guy that women love. I'm really intimate, I guess. For some reason as much as women beg for some guy that knows how to treat them right, they never end up liking the guy. Whatever, good for you, go get beat up and enjoy your partner's toughness; it's really "attractive."

When I think about marriage and what-not I can think of myself in a few scenarios when I'm older. My first idea is to be the ideal Irfan and be some good looking single guy who "dates" a lot of women. The second idea that sticks is being married and happy, the storybook ending with fireworks at the end. The third idea is the most depressing: to never get married or do anything.
I dream about the first idea sometimes, but I would have a hard time being that person.

The second ending is beautiful I'm sure for the first few years, so I think about the investment bankers on Wall Street.

Personally, I'm fine with being lonely in the third one. I've been that way my whole life and it's quite easy to stay the way I've always been. Sometimes, my family asks when I'll get married and sometimes I say, "Never." to see what they say. I know Nevzeta can disagree quite easily with that one, from what I know I'm guessing she loves it. But I know they'll probably grow bored. If there's anything I'd want it would be to find out some method to stay in love with someone forever. However that may be, that should somehow prove that there is no such thing as true love. There is no "one" that you search for your whole life. Just two things: your heart and mind. It's weird, I'm in love with so many women at the moment. My heart is so easy. I don't consider myself a Casanova, but I can't tell if I would be happy going through with it with all of them or not. Sure, my hormones think so, but what about my superego? So therein lies the problem, should I go all-out or all-in? Most of the advice I hear is something like, "Have a lot of fun and then settle down with some virgin chick." But dude, that's such a bullshit idea. I could believe in something like Eddie Murphy said on "Raw" back in the eighties. You know, about doing whatever you want "and settling down with someone that's just as fucked up as you are." It sounds fair enough, but that's still not enough reason for me to have fun. I know my dad would say some shit like, "What happens there stays there." Because his mind works differently and he's unhappy. I don't understand how you can be such a bastard. Am I the only person that thinks this way? What the hell do I do? I only hope the answer finds me before I find a wrong answer. But maybe there is no answer, you know. Maybe you just do whatever you like. There's no set path to happiness so there probably isn't a set path for love. For some reason I feel like the third path is the only open one and it might regretably lead me to the first option. True love is something that takes place in your mind, not your heart. Your heart just does its job by keeping you alive and giving you the funny feelings when you do love someone. What's the point of explaining these feelings that others have been trying to for thousands of years.

Today after the feast I watched American Beauty today which played a part in inspiring me to write this. The movie is so weird it's great. I love the double entendre of "American Beauty" and now I know why my English teacher, Sujay Desai, loved it. Two years later from when I actually had his classes. Wow. You should just watch it for yourself. Don't limit yourself, "Man, oh man. Man, oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man."

I've watched like 4 movies in the past 4 or 5 days. It started with The Shawshank Redemption then it went to Garden State on TV, after that it was the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, followed by Requiem for a Dream, and finally today Donnie Darko. I guess that's five, not four. I have another movie, 21 grams, downloaded. I'll probably watch it tomorrow when I'm out for Thanksgiving break.
God, movies are awsome. I wish my life would end with some sort of storybook ending like in Donnie Darko or Garden State, but I have trouble accepting the fact that this shit is fake. Real life is so boring compared to movie life, but clearly movies are shown for its action otherwise they wouldn't sell. I love the quote at the end of Donnie Darko where he says, "Deus ex machina" I'll leave it to you to figure out the history behind those words.

Another Presidential campaign comes and goes, except this time political dissent, free speech and visual opposition are all contained far from the Puppet President's campaign trail. The Autocratic Puppet President is naturally re-elected during war-time and begins his second term.
They then seek to hold more control over the Citizens and have Congress pass a national ID Act, one in which they are able to basically track and gather information on each and every Citizen.
Another disaster hits the nation, this time a natural disaster that is vastly destructive and the response of the agency that manages such disaster is, very conveniently, a dismal failure. The failure of the agency responsible for managing disasters gives the Autocrats a perfect opportunity to eliminate the only law that keeps the Military from being used by the government for domestic law enforcement, and opens the door for the plan to eventually impose martial law upon the nation.
Scandal rocks the Neo-Con-National-Socialist-Party, the war is going poorly, yet the Puppet Makers and their Puppets continue to drive their policies to fulfillment. Patriotism is still the "newspeak" trigger word that they use to inflame the nation for their cause.
With another Presidential Election a couple of years away, the plans of the Neo-Con-Socialist Party must carried out with perfection. Although their man is not allowed by the Constitution to serve as President again, in their minds, that is no reason to remove him from Office.
It is a few months before the election, another convenient attack takes place within a large city, the attack kills tens of thousands of people and the plan is executed. A national emergency is declared, martial law is imposed. Executive Order becomes law, the Constitution, Congress and Supreme Court are suspended. All guns are confiscated from the Citizens, private ownership of gold and silver is declared illegal, all information in the media and on the internet is regulated and now only promotes the Party Propaganda Line. All political dissidents and opposition groups are declared to be "enemy combatants" and are imprisoned.
The Neo-Conservative National Socialist Party is now in absolute power.

Howard Fineman: Rove Non-Indictment a Bush 'Victory'

Newsweek magazine reporter Howard Fineman, who's been at the forefront of recent media speculation that top White House official Karl Rove would be indicted, has pronounced Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's decision to indict only Cheney aide Lewis Libby "a victory" for the Bush White House.

"Given the expectations that have evolved around here in the last week or so, if it turns out that this phase of the grand jury ends with only Scooter Libby being indicted," Fineman told MSNBC's Joe Scarborough last night, "that will be seen as almost be seen as a backwards kind of victory here."

Scarborough agreed, saying that the indictment of Libby without Rove would be, "a huge political win for the White House."

Fineman said Rove, not Libby, was Fitzgerald's "big fish."

"Karl Rove is a big national figure and as close to the president of the United States as you can get without being a member of the president`s family," he told Scarborough. "And so, politically, Karl Rove is the much bigger fish here."'

I wonder what they were talking about during the multiple meetings before the indictments... This looks like a bad recreation of some Shawshank-type deals. And hail yet another, "Victory!" I love America.

I'm reading the Cato Handbook on Policy(Link) and am about 70 pages in. It's hard to get these facts down considering there's around 700 pages to understand. Memorizing even half of the facts and arguements is a feat in itself, the whole book would be just as hard as the seven days. Well, you get the idea. Ideally I hope to educate my family, although I've lost some respect for some, and have them appreciate all of this.
It's sort of like a scenario in the fable The Alchemist where the alchemist asked some stranger if he wanted the secret to longevity. Hearing this the stranger laughed and rejected the offer. The alchemist told the main character that people won't accept the truth even though it's right there before them. However, since this is a fable the whole longetivity thing is not true, but it's the basic idea that if the truth is in front of them people have trouble seeing it. I feel what I know is the truth. I've been searching for my whole high school life and I'm sure other people say the same with their own beliefs, but the difference is that they delve too deeply into it and won't allow themselves to think more open-mindedly. I'm happy thinking I know what will happen after I die so I'll concentrate from now on to give as much as I can to the world. Not like Jehova's Witnesses by travelling door to door, that's vain. I'm not sure what the plan is for the future, but I'll work for it.

It's funny seeing kids from my school use the internet. My whole life I've used it to stay away from them, but it's hard for me to understand the whole scenario. Like, I live two lives. My normal one on the internet and with close family members, and then there's the other side of life in my school which I act differently in.
Anyways, that link above is for my Civics class. It's for some outreach project, and amazingly, no one knows jack about American government. I have to brush up on my persuasion skills because they're all so damn blind. It's not their fault, I would be making the same candy dandy responses to impress my teacher; I might sprinkle some glitter on top and make a swelling lump look nicer. But guess what? It's still the same trash under that guise. They hunt for people's minds like a kid would with sprawled out on a floor filled with money they tell us to be proud of what we [don't] have. "Freedom! New Orleans

Damn, I never thought something like this could have happened. No I don't mean the storm, I'm talking about the aftermath. What is wrong with FEMA? First of all, if they're the Federal Emergency Management Agency shouldn't they be managing this situation? What do I mean? "The Homeland Security Department has requested and continues to request that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans," said Renita Hosler, spokeswoman for the Red Cross. '
Why is that? They're not allowing Charities to help out and at the same time imposing Martial Law and declaring a zero tolerance policy against looters. It's like they're trying to kill these people. Why is there Martial Law there anyway? Well, it's a tough arguement. I see some of them have actually been shot at even though there's no reason to. I think people should loot only what they need to survive. Plasma TVs don't count. Check this out too:

I am a resident of the Bywater in New Orleans (9th Ward). I am one of the lucky ones that was able to evacuate before the storm.

I have recently managed to speak to some friends stranded in New Orleans. They are starving and dehydrating and there is no news of when they will be receiving food and water. I have spoken to relief efforts and understand that there are plenty of supplies waiting for these people, BUT THEY ARE NOT BEING ALLOWED INTO THE CITY.

The National Guard has the city surrounded and is not letting anyone in or out, except the buses being evacuated. The excuse that they can not bring supplies into New Orleans because of the looting and gun fire is not a valid excuse - if they are too afraid to enter the streets of New Orleans, they need to be air dropping supplies into the city. If the United States is capable of sending planes that can withstand enemy fire to drop bombs in Iraq, certainly they are capable of air dropping supplies into a city where the worst of the gunfire they could encouter would be from semi-automatics.

Our government is killing the people of New Orleans. By witholding supplies, they are ensuring more deaths, and I hold them complicit.

Please bring this matter to the attention of the people of the United States. They need to know that New Orleans is deliberatly being denied food and water. Perhaps if the people there had food and water, they might not be shooting off guns.

Also heard that part of the reason our house flooded is they dynamited part of the levee after the first section broke - they did this to prevent Uptown (the rich part of town) from being flooded. Apparently they used too much dynamite, thus flooding part of the Bywater. So now I know who is responsible for flooding my house - not Katrina, but our government."

Well on a lighter note I'm starting school tomorrow, sort of weird. I've figured out since the school doesn't really care about me in any way any more I'll do everything for myself only. I suppose it's time to start being what I've tried to hide from. I may like video games, but I'm not content with them anymore. Isolation is possibly the only way I can achieve a goal. I'm going to try to do what's right and have no regrets in the future about this final school year. No regrets.

The problem I've been having for the past ten minutes is reading the signs of the future, it doesn't talk about or make slight references about a Police State in any way after Sign 22. It's all progressive, I don't understand why the media doesn't cover this? It's happened a few times and it's "forgotten." At this rate our rights are going to be "forgotten" as well. Hell, what rights do we still have? The Bill of Rights has been raped, figuratively speaking. Having permits for something we have a right to do is unconstitutional, you can't argue with me or anyone about that because it's true. Let's talk about the Bill of Rights while we're at it. The first amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." This allows us to talk about whatever we want, whenever we want.

I want to clear something up first before going into the first amendment fully. After thinking about a comment by Alex Jones I don't think having a political label is important. I say this because I've recently said I was a Libertarian, but here's a quote I'm starting to go by. "Although labels are ulitmately meaningless, I consider myself to be a classical liberal, in the vein of Thomas Jefferson or George Washington. I believe in the Second Amendment and National Sovereignty."
And before you say, "Oh A Liberal!" Here's a definition: "Classical liberalism is a political and economic philosophy, originally founded on the Enlightenment tradition, that tries to circumscribe the limits of political power and to define and support individual liberty and private property." For some reason I don't like the word liberal. I never really have, but put classical alongside it and it seems a little better.
OK, now back onto topic. I'll be using Good To Be King as a source here on the interpretations the Bill of Rights. "It is often said that we should never talk about religion or politics in public places. Why not? It is unfortunate that expressing our opinions has been deemed socially unaccaptable. If Americans were more willing to discuss religion and politics with their friends and aquaintances, I doubt we would have the political problems that currently exist in Washington." The point is, TALK! It doesn't matter what it's about, and according to the first amendment it doesn't matter if it's offensive or not. That's the point of it. We have the right to say whatever we want, even if it offends you. If you don't like it, who said you have to listen to it? I do believe in civil arguements as well because it's more classy and respectable. However, if the need arises we can be more assertive and yell about it, there's nothing wrong with that.

I thought of something interesting a little while ago. You know, with Emo music. I've been listening to FuseTV's Emo music video's and they're honestly all about the same thing. They're always singing about how they can't live without their girlfriends and how "depressed" they are, then some even go on talking about hurting themselves by something like slitting wrists. What I thought was, Emo music is the same trash as Boy Bands. It's the same damn little kids who are now a little bit older and now they're so sad but years ago they sang, "I wanna be with you" to the next album's, "Show me the meaning of being lonely." Now after they got older and realized how terrible these songs were they found Rock, kept those feelings, but now sing them with a new tune. That sounds about right, and what's pathetic is most of these kids are terribly unoriginal; they just hop on the bandwagon and see how far it takes them. Make some sense. Enough with my crappy rant, that's just "The Truth" in my mind's eye.

I've been reading a lot about Evolution vs. Creation and it's VERY fascinating. Although I am a creationist, I do read both sides with an open mind and try to give both respect. Through experience in the topic the only thing that could ever change me is the presence of "missing links" even though no one has found any yet. If evolution is such a rational and right explanation, don't you think there would be more evidence and less observations? We've done SO much excavating and with that we should have found things like half-bats or other links, but we haven't found anything at all. After seeing things like fossils of ants who haven't evolved for the past 100 million years or dragonflies for the past 135 million I can only conclude it can't be real. Until there is hard evidence and not, "It makes sense because everyone says so" I can't believe it. I guess if we haven't found it yet the chance of finding missing links in the future would be impossible. Well anyways, enough talk about evolution/creation. I've got more to talk about now below.

Since this is a new idea I've been developing I warn you this won't be well structured so give me advice.
Well, after hearing a few things about some people and unused advice from some other people I'm starting to doubt if there is true love. What do I mean? It's pretty deep, but it's an interesting thought. Having to choose between contradictory beliefs, I find myself doubting if love is actually that great a thing. Love is a strong feeling with additional hormones to emphasize the feelings. There can't be such a thing as true love with another human being (but I do believe in true love with the higher being). Since there's only one God(assuming you believe what I do), and He has infinite power you can love him through fear, gratefulness, or both. With humans it's different.

One piece of food for though is even if you're in love with one person, you can fall in love with another or many others. It's known that the hormones of love fade away after about 3 years with the partner because you know them personally and not as the sexy counterpoint you didn't know. After those three years, it's all up to your mind and your sense of loyalty to stay with that person. Assuming true love is with one person: Loyalty and true love go hand in hand, without one you can't have the other. There can't be a destined relationship between two people, the couple is only together because they both are extremely loyal(or one is materialistic.)

The advice I get from close adults is interesting, they say have as much fun as you can with as many girls as you can before you marry. But another friends word is, "In the end you'll be a lot happier if you are a virgin and marry a virgin. These people who go around today screwing all in sight won't be happy at all. It's better for you." Using these two opinions I tried inventing what I'm writing about now, but I'm not so sure that it's going to work out the right way. Will I actually be happier with opinion one or two? How do I know for sure if I can't do one over the other? Some people talk about "onegina" and how marriage is a terrible bond, why? According to the masses, polyamorous relationships rules while monoamorous may be more boring. I also ask, when has the public ever been right? Right now, my decision is monoamorous because I feel like I'll live life with a storybook ending even though my first attempt was so stupid and pathetic I don't even want to talk about it. The only deciding factors on choosing between the two is: "Is it really that good?" and "What does Religion say?". From what I've heard, some people say it's not that great while others say it's fantastic. Is it really that good or are you so sex-crazed that even your brain has become a sperm-manufacturing facility? What does Religion say? Well I already know. I don't really care about how good it is anyways, what's the point of doing it so much to make yourself happy if it's not that amazing. If it is amazing, I guess that whole situation explains itself. Life is short so I suppose doing whatever you want with one person you trust and know is a much better feeling in your heart, mind, and soul than it would be with a bunch of "towels." So about this whole true love thing, don't use the heart only because the heart is much more prone to mistakes than your driving force: the mind. Use both and choose wisely. If you can keep yourself loyal with one person and have as much fun with a special other that's better than any storybook ending because it's real. Purity is a rare find to come across these days, when I or anyone else finds it I hope for only the best. I talk about love like I'm actually going to fall for it. I'm like Nikola Tesla in a way, even though he was a virgin his whole life I feel like I might be too because I can care less. Wow, I just found out Tesla also read a book I loved and memorized it, "At that age [24], I knew entire books by heart, word for word. One of these was Goethe's Faust." Wow, word for word... That's something you think humans can't do, but damn I can't believe he loved that book as much as me. What can I say? Great minds think alike.
